For a sweet Little Lady!

my cute friend Sarah had a baby girl this week...well and I know a thing or two about little girls so I had decided that I wanted to make her some flower hair clips for her gift...well, one thing leads to another, and I decided to make a hair bow holder to go along with it!

This is how I did it...

frame (any size) I used the glass, but if you dont have glass, you can use a piece of cardboard, that's what great about this...you can just use any kind of frame you have, cute paper ( or fabric) I've done both, both work great, ribbon, and mod podge

cut the paper or fabric to fit the size of your glass or cardboard and start mod podging on.

I decided I wanted to personalize it...cute baby is Molly, and her nursery is decorated with lady bugs...so I thought the little lady sticker was fitting. Yes, those are all stickers, you could use vinyl, or even hand write something on, I had the stickers...and I liked the pop of red, then I mod podged over that to seal them.

Then I picked my ribbon, and cut it so I made sure I had enough to take around to the back to fasten. I chose 3 different ones...you can do whatever.

This is the back view...I used hot glue. Don't glue the ribbon on the front of the board...you only want to glue at the back, otherwise, your clips will have nothing to "clip" to.

Then stick it in your frame...and this is what you get...


(these flowers are made with the little alligator jaw clips) and they are fun to make too! YAY, no more paying someone else for hair flowers!

Just clip the little alligator jaw clips right onto the ribbon...

Cute AND functional!

bathroom decor on the easy part 2!

This is the before of our half bath...you know the bathroom guests would use when they came over for a visit...and it needed help...in a bad way! When we built our house our builder insisted on satin paint...I HATE satin paint. it's just too dull for me, and with kids, you can't touch it, wash it...yuk! So I wanted to do something in there that looked good, was kid friendly, and actually looked like I tried.

I decided to just paint the lower 5 feet of the wall in American Tradition, Milk Chocolate...in Semi gloss. (this pic looks really shiny, but the paint was still wet!

Next, I bought a 6 inch mdf board, and 2 packs of brushed nickel knobs. (they were 9.99 each for a pack of 10 at Target), and I just screwed the knobs to the board. (if I remember right, I did every 13 inches)

and did the board all the way around the room!

It was easy, and fast, and a project I did all by myself. AND, I think it looks pretty cute too.

I like that the color is neutral, and this look can be dressed up or dressed down. It was simple, and really achieved the look I was going for in there! Oh, and my baby likes it too!

Just a little trick!

Being a mom of 3 little girls, I am sorry to admit that in the past 11 years I have literally spent HUNDREDS of dollars on hair accessories for my girls! Bottom line was, I wanted them to wear them...so I just forked out the money...over and over again...because they ALWAYS fell out, or got lost...or BOTH...well not anymore!

Just add a little strip of the sticky back velcro...the pokey side!

WA-LA...no more hair bows slipping out and getting lost!

Bathroom decor on the easy!

One of my favorite ways to decorate a bathroom is with TOWELS!

I mean, you have to have them in there anyway...they might as well be good for something, well other that their obvious purpose! :) Here are a few ways I have used towels, to bring in color, and my favorite...texture!

This is my master bath counter...1 bath towel, some hand towels, and a few washcloths...Oh, and a green bush...just stuck in there!

this is in my half bath...I love the toilet paper in the basket...may seem funny, but I know if a guest uses that bathroom...there will ALWAYS be toilet paper, AND, they won't have to look under my sink to find it! SA-WEET!

And this is one of my favorite ways... just plain and simple on a peg board! This is my girls bathroom, and they can use their towel, AND hang it back up without much fuss, which is good for me, cause yes, I am a little OCD when it comes to having things look neat and tidy! hey, at least I admit...and Oh, I admit it!

and there...the back of this toilet didn't get left out either...are you noticing a trend?

going green

I LOVE to decorate for holidays...OK, let's face it, I LOVE to decorate. period.

BUT, I do not have that much stuff for " the wearin 'o the green" day...at least I THOUGHT I didn't have that much stuff..

It's amazing what can happen when you incorporate a "few" key pieces, and just add whatever else works.

SO, this is what I came up with...

I added this green plate (shhh, don't tell it's plastic!) to my L U C K blocks, tied a ribbon onto the plate rack, found some candles and some potted grass (LOVE potted grass) and, I think it turned out pretty cute!

simple, and festive...and I'm not even Irish! :)

cheap and easy wedding gift idea!

so, my husband is a High school coach, and we get invited to A LOT of weddings! I came up with an inexpensive and personal gift idea! (no I did not invent the plate, or the vinyl lettering...or even putting the two together) but this is what I do...

1. plate (any color) I like black cause it's pretty neutral

2. have your vinyl lady ( we all have a vinyl lady, dont we?) take couples last name, year married, and a fancy scrolly thing ( yes that's how I described it to her when I order it...and she is great, and this is what was designed...) If you don't have a vinyl lady...I'd be happy to share mine...e-mail me, and I'll get you HOOKED up!

4. peel backing away from vinyl, center, press vinyl down on plate, and then slowly peel away paper...
buy a cute plate rack, and there you have it...a nice wedding gift..less than $7 total!

I bought my plate at Taipan Trading on clearance for $.54, yes, I bought ALL of them, my plate rack was $3.00, and the vinyl, $3.00.
Oh, and then maybe clean the plate again...before you take a picture, or give it away...oops:)!

I have been wanting to add bead board in my laundry room since...well, since we moved in...4 1/2 YEARS ago! and I FINALLY got it done! WOOT!


I'm contemplating adding it to the sides of the bench...but that was not the original plan...so, we'll see. I'm also thinking of doing a brown glaze over the top of the green...what do you think?

Now I really like it in there...calming, soothing...and now I even want to go in there AND do the laundry...plus I've noticed I'm even doing better at keeping it clean...which...BONUS!

total cost: bead board: $15 Lowes

Paint: 1 gallon Olympic Semi gloss $15 color: Guacamole (I didn't even get the good stuff, cause I new it wouldn't get much "traffic" And I have mmmm, pretty much a gallon of paint left to use somewhere else!

All the other decor, I just stole from other places in my house!

Oh, and I did buy a rug from wal-mart on clearance: $10!
